May 2, 2003 The United States District Court for the District of Columbia issues its decision in the case of McConnell v. FEC, ruling on the constitutionality of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002.

May 5, 2003 Senator Feingold delivers a floor speech on the May 2 ruling of the district court in the case of McConnell v. FEC.

May 19, 2003 Statement of Senator Feingold on the District Court decision to stay its May 2 ruling on the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act pending appeal to the Supreme Court of the United States.

September 8, 2003 - In a special session, the U.S. Supreme Court hears four hours of oral arguments in McConnell v. FEC.

December 10, 2003 - U.S. Supreme Court issues its decision, upholding the major provisions of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act. A link to the Supreme Court's full decision is here. Sen.
